What is Screed?

Screed is a combination of cement and sand. Once a sub-layer of structural flooring has been set, a thin layer of screed will be set on top.

The top screed layer covers the base to produce a level, smooth and seamless finish. This facilitates other flooring materials such as wood or carpets to be positioned on top more smoothly and accurately.

What is the difference between Screed and Concrete?

The major differences lie in their texture and purpose. While concrete is a grainier mixture that uses larger and tougher aggregates, screed is a much finer mixture, made up of smaller aggregates.

Due to the different properties, concrete is used for more hard-wearing floor bases, while screed is used in thin layers to produce a sleek, seamless finish.

Our professional team is on hand to deliver screed and any other concrete services in Canterbury, Dartford, Dover, Faversham, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, and throughout the county of Kent.
